Summer 2025 Elementary: A Back-to-School Workshop for Parents of 2e Learners
Summer Prep for 2025-2026 School Year: Starting Strong – A Back-to-School Workshop for Parents of Twice-Exceptional (2e) Learners
Is your child entering a new school year with a complex mix of strengths and support needs? Do you wonder how best to prepare teachers, anticipate challenges, and help your child feel confident from day one? This small group workshop is designed to help parents of 2e kids feel informed, empowered, and supported as they navigate the start of the school year.
Over the course of four weekly sessions, we’ll explore what it means to understand your child’s evolving neurodivergent profile, how to communicate effectively with educators, and how to set up a strong foundation for success at home and at school. You’ll gain practical tools and insights that not only help your child thrive in school, but also help you better understand and support them at home and in daily life — especially as you learn to navigate and explain their asynchronous development.

What To Expect:
Together, we’ll explore the realities of raising a twice-exceptional child—one who may simultaneously demonstrate gifted thinking and challenges such as ADHD, dyslexia, autism, anxiety, or slow processing speed. These differences often complicate the transition into a new school year. This group will help you better understand your child’s neurocognitive profile — including their asynchronous development, where emotional, social, and academic abilities may be out of sync — and how to communicate this clearly to educators. You’ll gain insight into how to support your child’s emotional well-being and executive functioning while building collaborative, strength-based school partnerships.
Weekly Themes:
Week 1: Who Is My 2e Child This Year?
Reflect on your child’s evolving strengths, challenges, and developmental needs. Begin building a personalized “This is Me” profile to share with educators, with a focus on asynchronous development and how it shows up in daily life.
Week 2: Partnering With Teachers
Explore how and when to share key information with school staff. Learn how to craft an effective “One-Pager” that communicates both strengths and areas of support in an accessible, strengths-based way.
Week 3: Navigating the First 6 Weeks of School
Prepare for common 2e transition challenges and develop routines, scaffolds, and check-ins that help your child settle in with confidence — academically, emotionally, and socially.
Week 4: Advocacy and Empowerment
Support your child’s voice and independence. Learn how to stay connected with educators, monitor progress, and plan for long-term collaboration and growth.
