RAVENSWOOD PROGRAM MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION
Our strategic plan calls for us to double the number of parents and educators we serve by the end of 2024, with an intentional focus on CLED communities, including the Ravenswood neighborhoods in East Palo Alto and East Menlo Park. Research shows that the challenges for students from these communities are compounded because educators focus on their deficits rather than their strengths.
We have conducted listening sessions with education and community leaders from the Ravenswood neighborhood to craft a pilot plan for the “Ravenswood/REEL Community Initiative” and now seek a part-time project manager to lead all aspects of this work. The project manager will work in collaboration with REEL’s leadership team to oversee the following activities:
-
Create and execute a one-year plan for the initiative, including a plan to disseminate information about neurodiversity and twice-exceptionality within the community (e.g., events, newsletter, community advisory committee, etc.)
-
Build relationships and coordinate with community partners, caregivers, and educators
-
Determine best methods to provide Spanish-language support groups for caregivers, potentially in alignment with our current caregiver support group partner, Parents Helping Parents
-
Identify and build awareness of sources of low-cost and/or free assessments and services
-
Track what’s working as well as areas for improvement and make recommendations for future goals, activities, and budget
-
Coordinate with REEL colleagues, including Executive Director, other Program Managers, and Marketing Associate, as needed
-
Recruit and manage community volunteers, as appropriate
-
Support translation of current REEL resources, materials, and events into Spanish
QUALIFICATIONS
-
Experience contributing to or managing nonprofit, education, or health programs in the Ravenswood community
-
Comfortable talking with people in a variety of settings, such as with families/caregivers, small groups, other community/nonprofit collaborators
-
Familiarity with Google Business Suite: Email, Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides
-
Able to engage in conversation with Spanish speakers
-
An openness to learning about and supporting neurodiversity-affirming strategies for K-12 students
-
Comfort with an entrepreneurial environment: flexibility, change, experimentation, creative solution ideation
