About the event

We are excited to announce the launch of the all-new Neurodiversity Speaker Series!

The Neurodiversity Speaker Series features a lineup of renowned experts, including educators, mental health professionals, and advocates specializing in neurodiversity. It provides families with valuable insights and tools to better support neurodivergent learners, including those with with autism, ADHD, dyxlexia, dyscalculia, dysgraphia, and more.

This collaborative initiative seeks to foster understanding, empathy, and inclusion by equipping families and communities with the knowledge and resources they need to create supportive environments for their uniquely wired learners.

EVENT DESCRIPTION

How can we incorporate research-based concepts into supporting our students with learning differences? We begin with defining terms such as learner variability, whole child, and universal design for learning (UDL).

Barbara Pape, EdM, Senior Director of the Learner Variability Project at Digital Promise, will discuss how these terms can be applied to create strength-based teaching and learning for students.

Barbara earned an EdM at Harvard University in reading and literacy and is working toward a PhD at the University College London, focusing on students with learning disabilities. She launched her career as a middle school teacher in Pittsburgh, PA.

Parents/caregivers, students, educators, mental health professionals, and community members welcome. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be available. Free admission.

NOTE: Zoom link included in Eventbrite Registration Confirmation under "Additional Information."

The Neurodiversity Speaker Series is presented by a consortium of Silicon Valley-based nonprofits including The Parent Venture, Children's Health Council, Compass High School, REEL2e, and The RILEY Project, with major funding from the Educating All Learners Alliance (EALA).
