We're proud to be part of the organizing committee for this fall's Stanford Neurodiversity Summit, including three sessions focused on the K-12 experience:

  • Sunday, Nov 7 5:30pm PST Unique Pathways: The Neurodivergent Lived ExperienceThe primary goal of the session is to showcase a unique and diverse range of K-12 school experiences and how passions, interests and strengths help overcome challenges and inform educational decisions. Panelists will reflect on what aspects of K-12 experience build a sense of identity and contribute to post-high school and career opportunities.  Watch the recording here: https://youtu.be/WFpscbyUMFA?t=32363
  • Monday, Nov 8 5:30pm PST How Strength-Based Experiences Engage and Nurture Neurodiverse Students’ Development: Current Research and a Personal JourneyThis session will provide an overview of exciting new research about students who have both talents and disabilities, focusing on a recent study of high potential students with ASD. The focus of this session is to discuss how we can use strengths and interests to engage and identify potential in a broad range of students who are neurodiverse and/or twice exceptional. Specific recent research results will be shared about positive findings relating to neurodiverse students with academic strengths and interests and how these were developed to achieve success both in high school and college. One of the presenters will also narrate her personal journey of neurodiversity, focusing on how educators and parents can support the academic strengths and interests of this group of students and help them develop a positive neurodiverse identity.  Watch the recording here: https://youtu.be/pyy_IX5Q8pM?t=32567
  • Tues, Nov 9 5:30pm PST Fostering Identity in K12 Neurodivergent Students: Top Tips from the FieldDeveloping a strong sense of self is an important process for all children and teens, especially those who are neurodivergent. Join our three panelists, including a parent, a teacher educator, and a clinician, as they share their top tips for fostering positive, strength-based identity development with neurodivergent K-12 children. Featuring panelist presentations, discussion, and audience Q&A, this interactive session will focus on practical strategies for helping children and youth develop the skills they need to lead self-determined lives.
